SEASONAL FRUIT

PLUM

Extremadura is the first plum producer in Europe according to planted hectares and recollected kilos. Our fruit is well Known for its exceptional organoleptic qualities due to the high amount of lighting hours, that give our crops a magnificient natural sweetness and colour.

NATURAL CONTRINUTION

Plum´s main component is water, followed by carbohydrates, amongst which stands our sorbitol, with mild laxative action. It's also rich in vitamins, minerals, acids and fibre.

  • A Vitamin: A provitamin, is the most abundant of all vitamins, even more in dark plums. A provitamin, also known as betacaroteno, is transformed into A vitamin in our body as soon as it is needed. A vitamin is essential for a healthy vision, skin, hair, mucous membrane, bones and for the correct functioning of the immunologic system.
  • E Vitamin:It is neccessary for blood cell stability and intervenes in fertility. It has an antioxidant action as well.
  • Minerals: They are high in potassium too, a mineral neccessary for the generation and trasnmission of the nerve impulse and for the normal muscular activity and it is involved in the water balance between the inside and outside of the cell. They are also rich in antocianos: natural pigments with anti oxidative and antiseptic properties.
  • Acids: plums content malic acid, an organic acid that is part of the vegetable pigment that gives the fruit its characteristic taste.
  • Fibre: Due to its high content in fibre and other laxative components (sorbitol and hidroxifenilxantina derivatives) it's useful to improve intestinal transit.
